About The Equipment

The Epilator

At Uptown Electrolysis, we utilize the most advanced epilator available in the market, setting a new standard in the field of permanent hair removal. Our Apilus xCell machine utilizes a 27.12 MHz ultrafast radio frequency, which is up to six times faster than other hair removal devices. By focusing the energy more intensely at the base of the hair, our Apilus xCell machine produces permanent results much more quickly on all hair types.

This innovative technology allows for faster, more effective, and comfortable treatment for our clients. With the Apilus xCell, we guarantee exceptional results and a superior hair removal experience.

Sterilization and Sanitation

We prioritize infection prevention and cleanliness at Uptown Electrolysis. To ensure the protection of our clients from potential blood-borne pathogens, we follow a strict 3-step sterilization process.

  1. Our process begins by placing used tweezers and probe caps in a protein-dissolving solution to soak after each use.

  2. After the solution, tweezers and probe caps undergo sanitation in an ultra-sonic cleanser using a process called "cavitation."

  3. Finally, they are individually packaged and sterilized with medical-grade autoclave sterilization.

Our Cataphoresis attachments and electrodes go through the same rigorous 3-step process as needed. You can trust that at Uptown Electrolysis, we take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.

Probes

Electrolysis probes are not to be confused with standard needles. Although the terms are used interchangeably, there are significant differences. Unlike needles, electrolysis probes have a micro-polished shaft and tip instead of a sharpened point, allowing for a smooth and easy entry into the hair follicle. Additionally, probes are solid, not hollow like syringe needles.

There are three primary types of probes used in electrolysis treatment: stainless steel, insulated, and gold. The appropriate size and type of probe for the client is determined based on the area and characteristics of the hair and skin.

It's essential to use a probe that matches the size of the hair being treated. Incredibly, probes are as small as the hair itself! At our clinic, we take great care in selecting the appropriate probe for each client to ensure safe and effective results.

About The Owner

Hi there, I’m Makenzie Thigpen, the owner of Uptown Electrolysis. I understand the struggle of dealing with unwanted facial hair, as it's something I’ve been battling since my teenage years. At 22 years old, I decided to finally take action and started electrolysis treatments!

Although I was initially nervous, I quickly began to look forward to each weekly session. Finally taking action on a significant insecurity of mine and being able to put down the razor brought me so much peace, even though it took time before I saw permanent results. As I saw the real benefits of electrolysis, I became interested in the process and began researching how to become an electrologist myself.

I enrolled at the nationally accredited Berkowits School of Electrolysis in Queens, NY, and graduated in 2022. I am proud to say that I now have my own practice in Surprise, AZ, and I take great pride in helping others achieve the same sense of relief and confidence that electrolysis brought to me.
