Here’s what you need to know.

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. The process begins with the insertion of a tiny probe into the natural opening of your hair follicle, followed by a small amount of current delivered to the base of the hair, also known as the 'matrix area.' Electrolysis targets the papilla, the living organ responsible for hair growth, destroying it and weakening the blood supply to prevent future hair growth. Once successfully treated, the hair is easily removed with tweezers, and the process is repeated until the desired area is cleared. Electrolysis has been proven safe and effective for over a century.

Before treatment

  • Proper hydration is essential for a successful and comfortable electrolysis treatment. Electrolysis targets moisture in the follicle to create the heat reaction that destroys the cells responsible for hair growth. Dehydration can cause increased discomfort during treatment and make it more difficult for hairs to release. Stay hydrated before and after your electrolysis session for optimal results.

  • For the best results, hair should be long enough to be easily grasped with tweezers, but it doesn't need to be longer than that. We understand that this can be a sensitive and difficult thing to do. If you have concerns, we are happy to work with you to create a personalized plan that addresses your needs.

  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure 48 hours prior and post-treatment to prevent hyper-pigmentation.

  • On the day of your appointment, it is best to avoid caffeine and alcohol. These beverages can dehydrate you and cause increased sensitivity to the treatment area.

  • To make the most of your session, we recommend arriving fresh and clean. Please remove all makeup prior to your appointment so we can focus on providing you with the best service possible.

  • Discontinue use of retinols or other harsh skincare products for at least a week before treatment.

After Treatment

  • To prevent the introduction of bacteria or a breakout, please refrain from touching the treated area. If necessary, ensure that your hands are clean before touching the area.

  • It's normal to experience bumps, swelling, and redness after electrolysis treatment, and they should subside within a few hours. Avoid scratching or picking at the area to prevent scarring or pigmentation.

  • To reduce post-treatment skin reactions, you can apply a cold compress to the treated area. Aloe and witch hazel also provide great relief. Additionally, I offer specially formulated electrolysis creams for after-treatment use, which are available for purchase.

  • Keep treatment area out of direct sunlight for at least 48 hours prior and post-treatment. This is to prevent hyper-pigmentation.

  • To prevent breakouts or infection, avoid using makeup, harsh skincare products, or heavy creams on the treated facial area for at least 48 hours after treatment.
